HAPPY SATURDAY!!

HAPPY SATURDAY!!

Hello everyone this is Mackenzie McAvoy tuning into todays blog. Just want to start out and say the weather is finally starting to come along as its around 60 degrees here today. Unfortunately its cloudy today, however the sun does come out once in awhile.

Since we only have about two weeks left all the boys gathered together today, spend sometime with each other and watched hockey and had some burgers and dogs on the BBQ. So its nice that we were able to all get together today and hangout as a team.

This up coming week we have our annual senior banquet where we have a dinner, and say goodbye to them for a last time as a team, and also we get a nice homemade meal which never disapoints every year.
Since this is my last blog of the year I want to thank all the seniors for making my 3 years here so far, some of the best years of my life, and memories that i will never forget and always carry along with me and friendships that will last a lifetime.

Until next year,

My first year at Fredonia was one I’ll never forget and made 29 new brothers along the way....

Hello everyone, Rich DeMarco back on the blog for the last time of this school year. With only a week left of classes and then finals, I’ll be spending all my free time in a cubicle at the library. My first year at Fredonia was one I’ll never forget and made 29 new brothers along the way. I couldn’t have asked for a better group of guys to begin my college hockey career with. Living on my own for the first time was also an experience but I definitely have missed home cooked meals. As much as I can’t wait to go home, I’m also excited for the end of next August to come and begin our first step of many to reach the goals we have laid out as a team. Before I go I also wanted to take this time to congratulate Mike Kozlowski, better known as Koz, on his retirement and say thank you for everything you have done not only for the hockey team but all athletics, it’s truly appreciated. That’s it for my time on the blog; hope everyone has a safe and fun summer.

Thank you Koz....you have no idea how much we will miss you!

For over 30 years Mike Kozlowski has been a big part of the Fredonia Athletic Department.  Koz as he is known to everybody, is the heart and soul of Dods and Steele Hall.

His official title lists him as 'Launderer', but for those who knows him, Koz is the guy who makes sure everyone's games go off on time, are organized with event management, and that the officials are taken care of.  Additionally, he takes care of every teams equipment, orders, and inventories all the gear.  If I were to list each and every thing that Koz does, it would take pages.

I really think that we will not know the full scope of everything Koz does until he is gone and it is time for something to get done.  We will look at each other and wonder who was going to take care of that and then it will hit us....."Koz always took care of that".

Koz is retiring in July and we will truly miss him.  He is Fredonia Athletics and we wish him well in his retirement and the next stage of his life.  Thanks for everything Koz!

Fredonia was an experience of a lifetime.......

Well folks this will be my last blog ever as the year is coming to an end very quickly.  With only a couple weeks of school left I have started to reminisce about all of the good times I had here with the great teammates and now good friends I had met.  Fredonia was an experience of a lifetime and will never be forgotten.  I can't wait to make my way back here in the years to come, to be able to cheer on the Blue Devils and watch how they grow.  Remember Fredonia to never stop striving for more and never stop giving it your best.

Take care folks,

Kauf ate pucks like nobody I have ever seen....

Today is my day on the blog and I wanted to tell you how much appreciation I have for one of our seniors, Mitch Kaufmann and what he has meant to our hockey program.  Kauf was also one of our  team captains.

First, what he wasn't.....he wasn't the guy, like Bourney, Whitey and Slick who ended up on the score sheet all the time.

What he was....he was a fearless player who put his body in front of bombing slap shots while killing penalties....he was the guy who other teams hated but his teammates LOVED.....he was the guy who worked so hard in practice that it was impossible for his teammates to work any less than what he was giving.....he was the guy who had a goal this season of leaving the team better than he found it.  I know he accomplished that goal.

How did he do that?  His personal standards of organization are meticulous.  He set an example for his fellow players and coaches by his actions.  You could just tell, when he had that look in his eyes, that he was not going to be denied....and he wasn't.
Through his actions as a student, hockey player, and member of the Fredonia community, Kauf has definitely left Fredonia better than it was when he arrived four years ago.

Thank you Kauf,

Coach Meredith

Hope everyone has a great rest of semester!

Hello blog world,
Frankie Hart here to wish everyone a welcome back from spring break and hoping everyone had a nice time away. On my break I went back home to Canada, more specifically Timmins, Ontario. It was a long 10 hour drive but I finally got there and was greatly by my family with a nice home cooked meal. To my surprise it was still winter up there. Even though I was not able to sit outside and get a nice tan by the beach I made the best of it and went ice fishing, snowmobiling and enjoying the outdoors that the great white north offers.
These next few weeks will definitely fly by so I am going to make sure to enjoy and get the most of everyday that I am here!
I am looking forward to nice 6am team workout session with the boys tomorrow, it will be good to be getting a sweat on as a unit again. Just another necessary step to make sure we are all ready for next year and to accomplish something memorable in my senior year.
Hope everyone has a great rest of semester!
Au revoir!

It's crunch time in Fred with only a couple weeks left.....

Hey everyone!
It's crunch time in Fred with only a couple weeks left. The school year is winding down and the weathers been great. The Avs aren't in the playoffs so I'm pulling for Nashville since some of the boys and I went down there for spring break a saw a game. Their backs are against the wall tonight and I'd love to see a game 7. Can't go wrong cheering for the underdog anyway.
Hope you all have a great week!
Cheers,

Datsyuk....

Mike Freeman here coming back with yet another blog!

Well as some of you may know, the Detroit Red Wings (AKA my favorite team), were eliminated from the Stanley Cup Playoffs last night. With their elimination comes the question mark of what Pavel Datsyuk will do next season. Datsyuk has one year left on his contract with the Wings, but he has expressed that he will most likely be going home to Russia to be closer to his family. While selfishly, I want him to stay and play out the last season, I think Pavel will be departing Detroit next season. I grew up watching Datsyuk play and have always admired not only his skill, including his often times mesmerizing hands, but also his professionalism on and off the ice and the amount of respect he gave and received throughout his career. He was truly a role model of mine and a perfect example of what an NHLer should be.

Good luck and thank you for giving us Wings fans your all every game, Pav!

"been fortunate to get out on the golf course 5 times in the last couple weeks"

Hello Fredonia, Jon Carlson #4 here for my final blog of my freshman season. Two more weeks left of classes then finals week until the Men’s hockey team will be heading home for summer break. The team, as you can imagine, is staying busy with various end of the semester projects and also team workouts.
For me, I’m thankful to finally have some nice weather around here. I’ve been fortunate to get out on the golf course 5 times in the last couple weeks. Looking forward to heading home for summer break in a few weeks. Be nice to spend time with my family and friends as I haven’t seen many of them since Christmas break. Would like to again thank all blog readers and Blue Devil fans for following us all season long, Happy Summer, and you will hear back from me in the Fall.

Everyone is buying in and I cant wait to see what the future holds.....

Hey Blue Devil fans, Ben Casale here checking in for my last blog before summer.

I can't believe there is only a couple more weeks left in the school year, where did the time go? Anyways even though its the off season all of the guys are working hard in the weight room to prepare for next season. Everyone is buying in and I cant wait to see what the future holds.

Summer is only a few weeks away and I cannot wait for golf, sunny days, and not being broke. Also, I’m eager to assert my athletic dominance and beat fellow teammate Rich DeMarco on the links. It's getting down to crunch time so wish me luck during finals week and I'll catch ya later.

Golf is on the mind..........

After a long winter, Fredonia weather is starting to look nice. Classes are ending soon and the grass is turning green. It's an exciting time when the weather is nice because it allows for some fun outside activities. Golf is on the mind and on the day's work isn't a priority, some of the guys go out for a quick nine or relax outside on a nice day. Spring is finally here and it's and it's a happy time here in Fredonia.

Hope all you fans have a great Summer!

Crazy to think that my freshman year is coming to an end. Looking back at it though I will be taking a lot of great memories back home with me. At the same time, I can’t imagine not seeing all the guys everyday, I will have to get used to that. I am already looking forward to next year and next season. The new recruits look like they will be a great addition for the team. I hope they are excited and ready to work as hard as us returning players are!

Hope all you fans have a great Summer! Till next year!

My freshman year is quickly coming to an end, and it is very eye opening as to how quickly time goes by....

April 16th

Well it has been a while since the season has ended and it has felt like a part of me is missing. I miss going to the rink every day and grinding it out and battling and looking forward to playing every weekend.

My freshman year is quickly coming to an end, and it is very eye opening as to how quickly time goes by. I feel like I blinked and the season was over and blinked again and there is only a few weeks left in the school year. It has been a blast though.

The only thing that I am looking forward to is next October rolling around and getting back after it with the boys. Hopefully winning and taking Fredonia to Sunyac playoffs and the NCAA tournament!

LETS GO RANGERS

Hey there hockey fans!
As we all know playoffs is the best time of year for us! The battles have already started to get heated and the weekend rivalries are battling to advance. As a Rangers fan I am really looking forward to todays game. We need to come back strong and get a HUGE game two win. The king Henrik Lundqvist is still questionable for todays start and leader Dan Girardi is out for undisclosed reasons. Personally I am not the biggest Girardi fan so I am not too upset with that. On the other side in the West, looking forward to the LA Kings series. In my opinion the Kings are the best team in the show. From top to bottom they are one of the most entertaining teams to watch.

Thats all I got for you today! LETS GO RANGERS

GO KINGS GO ......

Luke Rivera #23 back on the blog here to just give everyone a little inside on what we've been up to. Most of you know, when the season is over it is time to kick back and relax. Well here at Fredonia, we have our fun sure, but we have also been getting up at the crack of dawn for team lifts, stretches and bonding. Nothing brings a team together more than not wanting to get up in the morning. We get some great laughs out of it. We just recently also had a meeting talking about what are we going to do to be a successful team next year. We have three groups one of which presented a couple of days ago. We talked about the little details that we can improve on for when the season starts. We are all very anxious already. We want the SUNYAC championship and it's only April which is why I have nothing but great beliefs that we can do it and even more with the guys we have right now and the guys we have coming in. Also, NHL playoffs have started and nothing is better than getting the boys together and screaming at the tv. We have some super fans for their hometown teams and we have some haters so it's all fun and lots of laughs. Till next time. GO KINGS GO

What a day we have here in Fredonia!

What a day we have here in Fredonia! Sammy here on the blog. The boys have been getting after it bright and early already preparing for next years season. The team has been becoming closer and closer doing team activities! We got the pleasure to play kickball in the gym and had an intense game with the boys. Unfortunately the game was cut early due to a monster grand slam that lost the ball. The boys are having fun and more positive then ever! Until next time!

In Nashville, Tennessee for 5 days, and let me tell you, Music City was a treat!

Mike Freeman here, back again with another blog.

So I know its a few weeks after Spring Break, but I have to share how awesome of a break I had. A few of the boys and I were lucky enough to get the chance to go to Nashville, Tennessee for 5 days, and let me tell you, Music City was a treat!  We found a great apartment that was a stones throw away from the heart of downtown to rent for the week, and between the pool, BBQ and the billiards room, it was down right decent. There were many highlights from our trip, from catching some of the best live music ever on a nightly basis, to packing on some of Jack's Famous BBQ joint on a near daily basis.

Out of all the fun we had, I would say the best part of our trip was getting the chance to see the Predators play on a Saturday night. I had never been to a Nashville game before, but I knew the place would be jumpin' just from the atmosphere you see every night around downtown. And let me tell you, the fans sure do love their Preds. Truly one of the best hockey environments I have ever had the pleasure to be a part of. After that game, I now consider the Predators my second favorite team and am excited to see what they can do in the upcoming post season.

Until next time, Devils faithful!

Whitey off to Clarkson to finish Civil Engineering degree.....

Hello Bloggers, this is junior, defenseman Zach White checking in to give my farewells.
Reflecting on my 3 years here at Fredonia, all I can say is it flew by in no time.  Throughout the past 3 years I was fortunate to play college hockey with a great group of guys and made some lifelong friends along the way.  Although the thought of all the fun here in Fredonia ending soon, I am excited for the next chapter in my life, which is finishing off a Civil Engineering degree at Clarkson University.
I would like to thank all of the fans and members of the community for the support over the years that have helped make Fredonia a great experience.  Lastly I wish best of luck to the boys next year with their season.
Cheers! Zach White #5

We are sick of the snow and cold weather....

Happy Sunday everyone!

Nick Harper here checking in for another blog post. Sports wise, this is arguably the best time of the year. It was opening week for baseball as my New York Mets look to gain some ground early on. The best golf tournament of the year The Masters started Thursday. I picked Dustin Johnson to win the green jacket this year so he's got to make a big push on his final round. Lastly, we're one week away from the NHL playoffs! As much as I want my Anaheim Ducks to win it all, my smart prediction is the LA Kings out of the West playing the Pittsburgh Penguins out of the East, with LA winning it all.
I think I speak for all of us here at Fredonia when I say that we are sick of the snow and cold weather and we just want the sun to come and stay. We're in the home stretch here as we come down to our final few weeks. Although I'm going to miss the boys like always I'm looking forward to the summer. This summer starting in June I will be working at Camp Caribou in Winslow, Maine. I will be a hockey coach at this camp teaching boys the fundamentals on how to play and I can't wait to get started!

That's all from me hope you enjoyed your weekend!

Thank all of you fans for the love......

Hey All!

#10 Dan Mainello, checking in again for the last time of this school year. First off all just wanted to thank all of you fans for the love and the support for us over this past year. You can tell the semester is coming to close when all your classes start to pick up and keep you busy with all the homework, assignments, labs, tests, etc. Since the season is over I find myself pretty much living at the library every night. Hope all this work will pay off, cross your fingers for me!

Crazy to think that my freshman year is coming to an end. Looking back at it though I will be taking a lot of great memories back home with me. At the same time, I can’t imagine not seeing all the guys everyday, I will have to get used to that. I am already looking forward to next year and next season. Good to see all the guys bright and early working their butts off. We are now entering the last third of the semester and I think we all are pretty excited about going home for the summer, at least I am looking forward to see my friends and family back home in Sweden.

Younger at Frozen Four......

Hey there hockey fans,

Happy spring...sorta...

Anyways, I am lucky enough to be able to spend this weekend in Tampa, Florida at the men's
division one frozen four. Each April since 2008 my family and packed up and gone to see the last four teams square off for the national title.
We've seen some pretty great games over the course of the years and last night was no exception. First semi-final was between Quinnipiac and Boston College. QU got out to a quick start and held the advantage till the end. Can't say that I wasn't happy to see BC go down since it seems like they are here every year. The next game was between North Dakota and Denver - a game of some very large and strong hockey players. Game was full of action on both sides. ND went up by two till Denver decided to score two in the third to tie it. The deadlock was broken with a ND goal off a broken face off play with 55 seconds left - crazy finish!!
Anyways, it's 75 and sunny here right now and I'm off to the course for the afternoon, don't tell my professors...
Enjoy it,

The weeks just seem to be flying by....

Kyle Jelinski here,
Well now that the season is well over the weeks just seem to be flying by. With the second semester wrapping up here not too much going on with me personally just trying to keep up in school and start preparing for finals. Only about six weeks left in school and I must say I am looking forward to going home and seeing all my friends and family with that being said I'm definitely going to miss all the boys here. Freshman year is flying by and I couldn't have asked for a better group of guys to spend it with!
Until next time,

Moral and direction are at an all time high.....

Hello all!!

Junior forward Marcus Ortiz checking in for this segment of the Fredonia Men's Ice Hockey blog. As our off-season training programs begin, the moral and direction that we as a team appear to be headed in are at an all time high in my tenure here. Hunter Long and I spent this lazy Sunday laying around the house, doing some much needed homework and watching HBO's original series Band Of Brothers. At this point in the school year we are more ready than ever for a much needed summer vacation. From the moment we left Clearwater beach after spring break it was apparent that schoolwork was not something we wanted to return to, let alone the odd snowstorm in April. Well, its time to go back to homework and the various antics of Hunts. Till next time!!!

The snow has come back.....

Hello everyone, its Rich DeMarco back on the blog today.
It’s finally April and you would never know it as the snow has come back, hopefully for the last time. With a little over a month left in the school year, most of my time will be spent in the library. It seems that all my classes have waited until the second half of the semester to give all their tests and homework so it’s going to be a busy final month. Summer and the warm weather can’t come soon enough. I need to get back on the golf course where I belong and maybe do a little working and make back some of the money I have spent during my time here at Fredonia. That’s my time here on the blog; hope everyone has a good week.

Woke up to snow this morning......

I'm back in Buffalo for the weekend and woke up to snow this morning which didn't make the return back from Florida any easier but on the bright side only about a month and a half left of school ! Its also been great seeing the boys again after break and even though break was only about a week it seems much longer when your used to seeing the team everyday. Well folks good luck to everyone the rest of the semester, especially with finals, and until next time !

"It doesn't make a difference if you don't do anything with it now."

to Jeffrey

Hey there,
Hope everyone is doing well, these days life is pretty simple. Wake up, class, workout, eat, and sleep. Since the last time I blogged we have had Spring Break which was a blast, and I also have been named captain. It's an honor to hold that position and to be placed amongst the small group of people that wore the 'C' in years past. But like my pop said, "It doesn't make a difference if you don't do anything with it now." Its a challenge and a job I look forward to taking on. We have a good group of boys so that makes it much easier already. SB was a blast, I enjoyed some nice Tampa weather. I got to see my sister which was most important to me. I only see her about twice a year since I moved away to play juniors, so for me to spend time with her made me happy. The weeks are flying by now that break is over and we are on the home stretch to finals and then summer break. Miss my ma and pop, so if y'all are reading this...Hi. I'll call ya soon.
PS. Congrats to goalie coach Johnny Cullen for the new head job at St. Francis.
Until next time
