Today is a cold one in Fredonia......

Hello!

Today is a cold one in Fredonia. Nothing too out of the ordinary here, but I sure wouldn't mind a nice sunny day with no snow on the ground. We are now into the second full week of the semester and so far all is well. I enjoy my classes and think that this semester will turn out to be a good one. The boys are in a playoff positions but the upcoming weeks will be a huge test and we need to prove to everyone we have what it takes. That's all for now I hope you all enjoy the day!

"it's time to start a new streak and get rolling for playoffs right around the corner. "

Hey everybody!

This past weekend we split games to extend our win streak and end it at 5 games. It's good feeling when you start stringing wins together like that and it's time to start a new streak and get rolling for playoffs right around the corner.

The previous weekend was our annual Pink the Rink game. I was lucky enough to have my parents and grandparents in attendance. As I showed up to the rink and walked in the locker room, I immediately checked out my jersey to see the name on the back to see who I'd be playing for that night. It read "Almquist". My parents surprised me and put my great grandma on the back of my jersey. My grandma's (who was in attendance) mother. She passed away a few years back after a long hard fought battle with breast cancer. Without a doubt it was the most memorable game of my hockey career and I was lucky enough to score a few goals for my grandma. An emotional yet meaningful game and night that I will remember for the rest of my life.

"all we can do is learn from our mistakes "

Hey everyone,
Hope all is well and staying warm after this weekend. Luckily it's a gorgeous Sunday out right now after a gnarly snow fall last couple of days. This weekend was a very important weekend. Not just on the standings but to also really put a lot of us to the test. We came out strong and did what we needed to do against a fast and physical Potsdam team and got a great team win. The next day against Platty didn't go as planned but all we can do is learn from our mistakes and fix them for the next upcoming games. Besides on the ice, it's always a great time being on the road with these guys. It never gets old hanging out with them. Now, time to prepare to sweep canton this upcoming weekend.

The boys had a huge 3-1 win last night in a hard fought battle...

Happy Saturday everyone!
Nick Harper here up in North Country with this weekend's blog post. The boys had a huge 3-1 win last night in a hard fought SUNYAC matchup against Potsdam. Eric Bogart played a very good game between the pipes only allowing one goal. Forwards Marcus Ortiz, Jacob Haynes, and Bobby Polacheck each had a goal in our victory. That's five in a row now for the Blue Devils! We look to continue our streak and solid play against Plattsburgh this afternoon. This is a huge weekend for us as we look to keep climbing up in the SUNYAC standings on our quest to a SUNYAC championship.

This past weekend was one that was very special to me and was one I'll remember for the rest of my life. I was very fortunate to start in my first NCAA game again Post University. My teammates played very well in front of me as we beat them 14-0. It was great to play at home in front of many family members and friends! The following day was our "Pink the Rink" game which is a great cause and has been a part of Fredonia hockey history for a while. We played Post again and settled for another win for our second weekend sweep in a row.

After a stretch of non-conference games, it was great to get back into SUNYAC play and to get a win and a big two points against Potsdam. Big one at 4pm today as we take the trip to Plattsburgh and hopefully pick up another 2 points!
That's all I have for you today hope you all enjoy your weekend!

"the sand is coming out of the hour glass"

Hello everyone this is senior forward Mackenzie McAvoy tuning into the blog. Hope everyone had a great weekend. For my blog I just want to reflect on how fast my 4 years at fredinia has gone by. 4 years seems like a long time when you first come in, but now with only 6 regular season games left and us pushing for a playoff spot, it really sinks in how fast it goes by. I had a question the other day about how does it feel to be almost done my hockey career, and I haven't thought much about it because I try to make every day count because like I have been told before the sand is coming out of the hour glass, and it's a reality check that's for sure. So for everyone reading this, whatever you do in life make sure you always give 100 everyday and do the best and be the best you can everyday.  Just a little something I have picked up my entire life and also with the season winding down into our last games. However the exciting part starts for us as we have a huge playoff push and that's what we are preparing for!
Until next time

Huge weekend here in North Country

Hello blog world!

Senior forward Frankie Hart here saying a hello from Potsdam NY! Hope everyone is doing well and excited for some great SUNYAC action tonight.

The road trip passed fairly quickly thanks to 3 movies and a pit stop. Huge weekend here in north country for our second half, playoff push! The boys are ready and there is nothing else to do but come away with 2 big points tonight.

On a school note, spring semester has started and all is sailing smoothly!
Take care everyone!

On the road to the North Country this weekend

Good morning hockey fans,

Jamie young checking in for my first blog post of 2017.

Pink The Rink was this past weekend and I want to thank everyone that came out and made the night so special for the boys and everyone else involved in the event. The boys really love playing in front of great crowds like the one we had on Saturday night so make sure everyone makes it back out for senior night in a couple of weekends!!

That being said, were on the road to the North Country this weekend for our second half match ups against Potsdam and Plattsburgh. These are two good teams and great atmospheres to play in, but the boys are fired up for a fun roadie and aren't coming back without 4 points.

With only 8 games left in this season and only one more season left in my hockey career, I've had a little bit of time to reflect on my hockey career as a whole and everyone who has helped me reach this point. To all my family, friends, coaches, teammates, trainers, doctors, and fans, the ride is far from over but it's never too early to say thank you for everything you have done to support me - I couldn't do it without all of you!!

Well time to study and get ahead of some work for the weekend, until next time hockey fans,

SUNYAC playoff spot up for grabs...

Hello everyone, after a nice Christmas break and a few out of conference games we are getting ready for the games that really matters and this is when the fun starts. Six more games to make sure we lock down a SUNYAC playoff spot and we have it all in our own hands. It's going to take a lot out of each and one of us but I know that we have the right group here to get it done. First, up are the Potsdam bears on Friday night and that's where all our focus is right now. I would not wanna be on their side of the ice when the blue devils come to town.

Until next time,

"we have hit a critical point in our season"

Hello all,

Senior forward Marcus Ortiz here on this installment of the Fredonia Hockey Blogspot. As we step into a new week and heading back into a hunt for playoffs we say goodbye to our parents as they depart from this past weekend and Pink The Rink. It was very nice as a player to see just how close all the parents became this weekend. It s very often overlooked how team chemistry can translate off the ice and it showed this weekend through our elders. We laughed at some parents and were amazed by others.

Turning the page, we have hit a critical point in our season now as we head back to conference play with just 6 conference games remaining. Every game counts and the boys all know this too well. The hard part is trying to remain calm and collected and focused on one game at a time and not the ultimate big picture. We have come a long way this season and it is time to show it in the North Country this weekend. Until next time ladies and gents!!!

Second sweep in a row and it feels good.....

Hey everyone,

Coming off our second sweep in a row and it feels good. Excited to get back into conference play and make a run at playoffs. Every game is going to be a big one for us because every point will matter when it's all said and done. Had the folks in town this past weekend for pink the rink and I had a great time seeing them and the rest of my relatives. Happy I was able to be apart of it for my fourth year in a row. Big week of practice and preparation to try and sweep the North country for our third weekend in a row. What a test it will be for this hockey team. This is always the time of the season where everything gets more and more serious everyday. Going to take every moment in and leave no regrets.

The energy in the crowd was electric.....

Yesterday marked the annual "Pink the Rink" game here at Fredonia. This year was a little different for me as I didn't participate in the actual game but got to experience the game as a spectator due to injury. The energy in the crowd was electric. All people from Fredonia gathered to pack the rink like a sea of pink and support the hockey team and the  greater cause of breast cancer awareness. Although I missed being out there with my teammates on the ice, it was nice talking to different people in the stands, and understanding the importance of what this game represents to everyone. Everyone on Earth is in some way affected by this disease and the awareness and money we brought in makes all of us proud to be a part of it.

I often forget of how far we've come together.......

The Fresno Boys

Mike Freeman here coming at you with another blog entry!
My favorite thing about being a part of the Fredonia men's hockey team is being able to play the game I love with the friends I love. Every now and then,  a reminder comes that hockey has the uncanny ability to be greater than just a game. After last night's victory again Post University, some family I had in town asked me to pose for a quick picture with Kyle Jelinski and Jacob Haynes, both of whom I played junior hockey with in Fresno, California.  None of the three of us anticipated that we would be coming to the same college team to continue our careers, and quite honestly, I often forget of how far we've come together. While in the middle of the daily grind, you tend to forget the nuances and take a lot of things for granted.  Seeing this picture and actually taking a good hard look at it, I am reminded of all the growth we've undergone together, both as individuals and as members of a team (even though Haynes still looks like the fifteen year old kid I first met).  I am also reminded of how much not only these two mean to me, but every single man on our squad.  It is so special to be able to be a part of something that's bigger than any individual, and to have the opportunity to face adversity together. Adversity that can only be overcome by one cohesive unit composed of individuals all pulling in the same direction. I know that everybody on our team, to the man, feels the same way about our group. Though Jelinksi, Haynes and I have evolved a great deal together, we still have a few more years left in us to try and achieve something special with our new family in our new home here at Fredonia.
Until next time,
Go Devils!

"Blue Devil crazies better be as rowdy as possible"

Hello blue devil fans, Ben Casale here for my first blog of the new semester! Big weekend coming up as the boys gear up for Post University and the pink the rink game Saturday night. It is truly one of the best nights of the year and all of you blue devil crazies better be as rowdy as possible. As for me right now I am trying to buy all my textbooks which are overly expensive and are going to put a dent in my bank account. I'm going to get back to the search,  but I will see you this weekend!

Yours truly, #19 Ben Casale

Today is the start of classes...

Today is the start of classes, and everyone is adjusting from J-Term schedules in to their class schedule. Spring is going to go by fast so hockey practice is more important then ever, no time to slack on or off the ice.
The upcoming weekend is our Pink the Rink weekend, a weekend that's going to be filled with emotions from all players family and friends in the stands. Going to be nice to being a part of my first Pink the Rink. Let's not forget that we are still playing for the win.

Have a great day ~ Anton Rosén

SWEEP...........

Hey guys!
Well another J-term has come and gone. It was nice to have a lot of down time and just kind of hang out with the boys and just focus on hockey. In my down time I played a lot of rainbow 6 siege with jimmy, bobby, and todd. As far as hockey we also did well coming off our first sweep of the year against western New England and Johnson and wales. Looking forward to getting back to SUNYAC hockey and making a strong playoff push in the upcoming second semester.
Till next time!

Pauly signs in.....

On Saturday we completed our first weekend sweep of the year. It was a huge boost for our team as many guys stepped up and contributed. A huge congratulations shoutout to one of my goalie partners, Eric Bogart as he notched his first ever college shut out!

The previous weekend we were down in Maryland playing two games against Stevenson. After four and a half seasons spread over two teams, I was able to start my first ever NCAA game. I was extremely blessed for the opportunity and was overwhelmed by the support I got from my teammates (past and present), family, and friends. I probably had about 30 texts on the day of the game from people wishing me well.

After such a long wait, the game obviously meant a great deal to me and it was a very emotional day. I felt so blessed to have my teammates play so hard in front of me. Their support was unbelievable and it speaks to the great unity we have as a group.

Unfortunately, the game did not go as planned as we suffered a very tough overtime loss. Although the result of the game still does not sit well with me, I am very grateful for the opportunity. I felt more and more comfortable as the game went on and I gained quite a bit of experience that will make my next opportunity that much easier!

The boys are very excited for our games this weekend which include our very special "Pink the Rink" night on Saturday!

Looking forward to Pink the Rink....

Hey everyone freshman forward Jacob Haynes here for my fourth blog post of the year.

As everyone knows pink the rink is coming up this weekend and I'm looking very forward to participating in the event for my first time. This years game though may be the one that means the most to as one of my best friends mom was diagnosed with Stage 2 breast cancer in early November. It has been a very tough and stressful time for the Russo family, early December Carlee had the tumor removed and she is currently going through chemotherapy right now will and hopefully be officially cancer free, free soon. It is the Russo last name that will be on the back of my jersey on Saturday night and Carlee's husband, Jason will be in attendance to participate in this special night. I cannot wait for the game and it should be a night to remember.

Until next time,

Monkeys are still the best.

Hey there everyone,

It's about the end of J-Term and it's a bitter sweet feeling for myself as I look forward to graduating in the spring, but I'm also wanting to time slow down at the at the same time so I can enjoy every ounce of this Fredonia family. We start back to school on Wednesday and Friday Saturday my family and friends will be coming in for my last Pink the Rink game. I am excited to play in front of my family, cousins and uncles that have not seen me play in a very long time, so I'm looking forward to that. Just hanging out here on this sunny but chilly Sunday. Boys are watching Planet Earth, I'm a huge monkey fan, but one just got snatched up by a tiger on a sneak attack. Monkeys are still the best.

"looking to rebound win a big way this weekend "

Hey, Forward Gavin Nickerson here. This is my first blog since winter break and all the guys are back in town and working hard in the rink during j-term. Winter break was a much needed couple weeks of rest and relaxation with friends and family. It was also nice to be able to watch my younger brother continue to grow as a high school hockey player in Wisconsin. We had a tough weekend at Stevenson last weekend, but we are looking to rebound win a big way this weekend starting with Western New England on Friday. Hope everyone had a great holiday season!

"I love road trips"

Hey everyone! Freshman forward Thomas Dunn back here for my first blog on the road. The boys are excited for a big weekend here in Maryland, after a long bus ride of about 7 hours. I personally love road trips to get off campus and have some fun with the guys. It’s always a good time on the bus and in hotels with getting to room with some guys that you normally don’t get to. We have two big games against Stevenson University, and I know the boys are going to come out flying looking for two wins.

Till next time,

"a great team bonding experience"

Hey Blue Devil fans it's #7 Todd Schauss checking in here with you on the first Saturday of the new year! I hope all enjoyed they're holiday as I certainly did. Some much needed time home with the family was very well enjoyed. Bringing in the new year the boys headed down to Maryland for a couple of out of conference match ups against Stevenson University. Road trips is always a great way for the team to get out of the home routine that we have had the luxury of having. Along with getting out of town for some change in scenery it is a great team bonding experience. From movies on the bus to team meals the boys get a chance to spend a lot of time together. I always look forward to these times with the boys. Unfortunately we did not come up with a W over the weekend but for the first weekend after the new year we have a lot of opportunity to build and move along in our road to a championship.
That's all I have for you this week!

GO DEVILS!

Hello all,

I hope all our followers had a great holiday break! It is always good to get little break from every day life and spent time with family and enjoy everything that matters the most. But now its back to work here in Fredonia. We are underway on the second half and have been getting ready for a big couple of games this weekend. The boys are taking off this afternoon to head down to Maryland to take on Stevenson University, and I think this goes for everyone in the locker room that we are more than ready. With six non-league games over the next few weeks its will be a good way to just get ready for a big SUNYAC push at the end of the month and into February! Can't wait to toss on the sweater this weekend and work hard for a few W's! That's is all for now every one. Hope to see you all at Steele Hall in the coming weeks as our home schedule winds down. GO DEVILS!

During J term it's much different.

During J term it's much different. Nothing to worry about except hockey and taking care of our bodies. There is a lot of time on our hands and during this fist week I've spent most of the free time resting up. Two big games this weekend on the road. The boys are looking for a four point weekend down in Maryland - Tommy

"very excited to be back "

Hey everyone! Freshman forward Thomas Dunn back here for my first blog since winter break. It was nice to get home for two and a half weeks to see all of my friends and family again. But, I’m very excited to be back here at Fredonia. Being here for J-term is bringing me back to my time in junior hockey, with only having to be concerned with hockey and not about school work. The boys are off to a great start so far with practice and we’re going to be building off of it every day this week until we hit the ice against Stevenson on Friday. Wishing everyone a Happy New Year!!

Till next time,
