Palmy on Pain and Gain..........

Its palmy here, back on the blog. After a little mishap I am back to writing about myself and everything happening around here in good old SUNY Fredonia. For myself my Sunday consisted of a fun filled day of studying. Luckily it was raining on and off all day to keep me inside and focused. The test was in Linear Algebra, an interesting course  to say the least. For a study break some of the boys Rob Michalka (former blue devil and roommate), Ian Ellenberger #27, his girlfriend Jenelle, and of course myself went to go see a movie mid day. We went and saw the movie Pain and Gain. A pretty funny and interesting movie about body builders who kidnap and torture a wealthy man to gain and steal everything he has. The movie included Mark Wahlberg and The rock. The movie is actually based off of a true story. If you want to read up on it you can click the link attached on the supposed Sun Gym Gang. Lengthy articles, but you should read part 1 through 3 to hear the true story.
Today was a normal day, after my test of course. as you can see by the picture attached, Declan #10 doing some serious bicep curls, Him and I worked out hard today. I mean how couldn't you work out hard with a workout leader and team assistant captain like Ryan Edens #18. Today is a pretty eventful day, as my brother in law is coming through town and I have to meet up with him before my night class at 6 pm. Then as soon as my night class is over I am meeting up with my dad who is also coming through for dinner to catch up and talk about sending my resume out to potential summer employers. So today is pretty jam packed. That's all for now and more to come later in the week. Inline image 1

Good luck to women's lacrosse team is SUNYAC's...

I would like to congratulate the Women's Lacrosse team for a great season. Last Saturday while we were enjoying our year end banquet they tied the single-season team winning record when they improved to 14-0 on the season. Quite the accomplishment! Recently however, in their last 2 games they have come up short. I know the guys on our team like to support the other athletics on campus so we are hoping that they can return to their winning ways in SUNYAC'S next weekend. It would be great to see a Fredonia team bring home a Championship.Good luck girls!

Our next opportunity for a championship in hockey will come next year on March 8. It is a date that we are all starting to prepare for now because it is up to us to be ready when it comes. Today was a beautiful day in Fredonia so instead of going to the gym, Cory and I went on a Vineyard run. Now that it is nice out, I foresee many workouts heading outdoors so that we can get a Stephen Castriota tan while we push our conditioning.

Beautiful Day for a walk along Canadaway Creek...

The sun is Shining and it's looking like its going to be a nice weekend here in Fredonia.  I took the scenic route on my way to school and walked by the creek today. I usually see people fishing down there but not today. Maybe if I ask nicely Shep will take me and show me a thing or two about catching fish. He's a pro. Speaking of pro, I think it is very unprofessional for my professors to make me write exams next week. An exam 2 weeks before finals is cruel, and I have 2 of them. One is in statistics and one is in linear algebra. I guess I'll have to spend some time in the library this weekend enjoying the nice weather through a window.

There's healthy and ...graduating senior healthy...

I would like to use this blog today to express my disappointment that Erie dining hall hall is closing. The boys traditionally haven't been going there often, with Cranston being the eatery of choice, but recently a couple of us have been enjoying the famous stir fry. You can pick everything you want and they steam it up right in front of you. By far one of the healthiest choices on campus. A picture of my 'fry is down below. Another special at Erie available nowhere else is the soft serve ice cream. Will Jung Nunn and I enjoyed a cone today. I didn't have sprinkles but Nunn did. Anyway, it sucks that Erie is closing but it will be interesting to see what they do with the place. I heard rumors if a Chipotle. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Get ready for the playoffs...including the Leafs?????

The time frame for the The Stanley Cup Playoffs 2013 begins on
Tuesday, April 30
and ends on
Friday, June 28

Exactly one week until the best time of year. I’m happy for my buddies Cossie and Gunner, Toronto Maple Leaf fans, who get to watch the Leafs in the playoffs for the first time ever in High Definition.  Very exciting stuff.  Cossie informed me the other day that the Leafs had clinched a spot and I think it’s a coincidence that the Mayans said the world was supposed to end this year. But that’s just me…. and everyone else who’s not a leafs fan. I was actually able to find a class picture of Ian when he was younger and posted it below. It’s too bad Declan is a couple years behind because I'm sure they would of liked to be friends.

I’m disappointed the Oil won’t be making a run at the Cup this year but I think next year will be our year. We’ve got a lot of young talent. Anyway, Toronto is still a Canadian team so I will be routing for them while also giving Cossie and Deeky a hard time. I don’t suppose they’ll last too long but the Hockey Hall of Fame is in Toronto so one way or another, TO will see the Cup again.

de Bruyn Award winner is Will McLaughlin...

Hello,
How about that ride in?
I guess that's why they call it, Sin City.

Thinking about how fast the rest of the year is going to go makes me remember just how fast time goes. For the graduation seniors I know most of them say they cant believe how fast it was. Regardless of how fast it felt, it is still a great accomplishment to complete 4 years of college athletics so I'd like to congratulate them again. I would also like to congratulate Brett Mueller for winning the Mike Lowe award, Ian Cosgrove for winning the Mike McDonald award, and Will McLaughlin for winning the Chris De Bruyn award. All great accomplishments guys. I would have liked to get a picture off all the award winners for the blog but the guys were busy so I was only able to snap one. Here's Will smiling with his.  Ryan Edens

Vikings in Fredonia....

Sunday night is always a good evening to relax and watch some TV before the week starts. I can't believe there are only 3 weeks left of classes before we all go our own way for the summer. Nosky and I have recently gotten into the Vikings series on the history channel. This weeks episode was a little strange and did not contain the amount of battle we expect but it's a rough show nonetheless. I haven't had the chance to talk to Hehr about the show yet but I know how much he loves to lay in bed and watch TV so I'm sure he's seen it. I'm also sure he thinks that he is Ragnar just like he thought he was Jax Teller. Maybe his head will leave the clouds once he enters the real world now that he is graduating?

Saying good bye to our senior class at the banquet...

Tonight was a bitter sweet night being that it was our Hockey Awards Banquet. It was nice to all be together and listen to the senior speeches but it sucks having to say goodbye to such a great group of guys. The remaining 10 of 16 from their freshman class are shown below. The gentleman are all looking classy. Bradley is still laughing at OC's speech and could not focus on the camera. Congratulations to all of the award winners and a happy birthday shout out to our graduating captain Brett Mueller.

Prayers go out to Boston....

Its the weekend folks and I couldn't be any happier about it. Today when I woke up it was nearly 65 degrees outside, so I thought it would be a good idea to throw on some shorts, T-shirt, and a pair of flip-flops. little did I know, there was a monsoon coming in with a drop of temperature by about 15 degrees. It wasn't the best start to a day, but I'm not going to complain anymore about the weather due to Ive realized that's just good old western NY weather for ya. This weekend I get work on the side lines of Fredonia States Lacrosse game and our softball team as well, hopefully the rain holds off for the two games. Also prayers go out to Boston.

Today's beautiful which means rain tomorrow....

Today was a great day, started the morning with a very successful workout with my good buddy Shep; Its sad missing Mr. Matecki in our group due to his gruesome toe surgery. Also that  my chemistry exam is now out of my head and I have no more worries for the rest of the week. I will not be stepping one foot in the library the rest of the week (Great Feeling). The weather wasn't to bad either, the sun was shining and the birds were chirping, I felt like golfing. I was able to catch my good friend Mr. Ellenberger's better half taking a few strides around campus. I can now see were he gets his smooth and crisp stride from, I guess I need to take some lessons. That's all for now.

Sunny days on the horizon??????????

And were back to the rainy gloomy weather. Lucky for me I was stuck inside all day working my internship, and studying. This Saturday coming up is a bitter sweet day for our senior class, most of them will be heading into the work force and hopefully my good buddy Nunn will keep the dream going in the ECHL. As I was saying its tough to see such a good group of guys graduate, but its all for the best.

As I'm in the library I was shocked to see Marty O in the library studying, he had me fooled at first but I knew he was up to no good behind that computer. Don't let him fool you folks he is actually yelling at his computer, as he watches the Buffalo Sabres slide down the NHL rankings. Keep of the good work Mart.

Best Day yet........

It was great to see the weather hit near the 70's today, it seems to put everyone in a better mood. When its warm out like this, you realize how many kids actually go to this school. Everyone is out walking around, throwing a frisbee, or even just sitting lounging around on the grass. Myself on the other hand I was not able to enjoy the weather as much as I would have liked to, due to my grueling chemistry exam coming up. I did find time to sneak in a little ice cream cone after my dinner today to celebrate the beautiful sunny day. Well I need to get back in the gloomy library and keep crankin away at the books.

Christer grinding it out in the library.....

Its nice to coming off of a nice relaxing weakened. I'm currently in the the library studying for my chemistry exam, that is coming up this Wednesday.  I'm also writing a paper that is due on Tuesday. According to the weather forecast, this week is suppose to be heating up with a few days in the 70's which I couldn't be more pleased with. With that said that's how you know the school year is wrapping up and coming to an end. We roughly have a month left of classes, and I know that Ill be busy in the library here on out.

Cloudy and rainy in Fredonia and in the library past midnight.....

Gloomy day today in Fredonia. To go along with the below average weather, I personally had 2 tests, and have another tomorrow. A lot going on this time of year in Fred Vegas. I suppose that just comes with the territory.
On a positive note, I was picked up by a Good Samaritan this mourning on my walk to school. Surly out of pity I'm sure, but none the less a nice gesture. Presumably someone just payin' it forward, I will have to reciprocate. Anyhow it's 12:45 AM
here in the Reed Library (figure 1) so I best embark on my voyage home.

As this is my final post for the year, I must take a minute to thank all my loyal followers, and wish everyone, friend or foe a lovely and safe summer. Take care all.

Perks hoping Sakic delivers......

Very busy day today. With my crazy class schedule on Tuesdays and Thursdays I have been exiled from my group to lift on my own at 9 am. A little bit tough to get rolling, but after a walk to school and some breakfast, it's all the same.
Today was also Bauer Demo day, so the kids have a chance to get a feel for what type of machinery they will be running next season. I made the executive decision to stick with the P92 or in layman's terms; the Joe Sakic pattern. Hopefully Joe lights a few more lamps for me next year, but only time will tell.

Big test tomorrow so I better get to bed. Night team

3 pointers from outside

Another dandy today here in Fredonia. Got up a few minutes early and enjoyed a walk to school in shorts and sandals for the first time this year; it's been a long.

After a couple riveting, back-to-back economics class' I enjoyed another 5-star meal at my favorite restaurant in the U.S.A. Erie Marketplace with ex-Seguin Bruin tough guy and Ice Skating 100 graduate, Nickolas "terry" Padulo. (See figure 1)

After the meal I made my way over to the rink to meet up with the boys.
As of late the boys have been warming up on the hardwood in Dods Hall gym with a little 3 on 3 before the lift. My team boasted an expressive 1-1 record, over two games where I went 3 for 20 from the field with 6 pts, 3 rebounds, and 1 steal.

All things considered it was a great day, excited to see what tomorrow has in store.

Hockey team participates in "Out of the Darkness" Walk

Had a great morning with the boys today; the guys participated in the "Out of the Darkness Walk", which is a fundraiser to raise awareness for suicide amongst youth, particularly college students. It was a beautiful mourning for a walk around Fredonia, and really got the day started off on the right foot being a part of such an important initiative. It was all smiles from the kids, and we even had the pleasure of having one of Fredonia's greatest alumni, "Superman" Mark Friessen in attendance.

After the walk a few of the boys made their way over to the lovely Cranston Marche' for an early lunch and that basically concluded the festivities. The weather after the walk took a bit of a turn for the worse, and this unfortunately forced me to spend the remainder of the day inside watching hockey. Luckily enough Hockey Night In Canada was featuring 3 games, one of which being my beloved Edmonton Oilers taking a 4-1 thumping from the reigning cup champions, the Los Angeles Kings. This loss moved Edmonton into soul possession of 9th spot in the extremely competitive Western Conference with a record of 16-15-7.

Concluded the day with a little trip to the library to work on some statistics and business law class' and called it an early night. All things considered great day!
