FEELS LIKE TIMMINS ONTARIO.......

Hello to everyone out there.  My name is Mackenzie McAvoy, I am #27 for the Fredonia State hockey team and I am a freshmen this year. I hail from Port Colborne, Ontario, which is literally across Lake Erie from Fredonia, and also is quicker to go by boat than drive.

This year has had a lot of ups and downs, just like the weather we have been having lately. This year I have learned how to become a student-athlete, and handling all the things that is required to be successful in school, and in life, and also in the arena as well. Now that we are finished playing hockey we have had a lot of time to focus on school and studying for all our mid terms before we head off for spring break. Some of us like Frankie Hart are heading back home to the Timmins tundra, while others like our upper class men are heading down south for some fun in the sun.

Today we are experiencing some unusual weather for this time of the year. It has been a blizzard out all day today, and classes have been cancelled from 12 noon for the rest of the day. This type of weather is not so much unfamiliar for freshmen forward Frankie Hart, where in Timmins, Ontario this type of weather is their tanning days.  Because classes are cancelled today doesn't stop Garrett, "the machine" Moore from getting a good chest lift in today.  We also have senior, captain, Ryan Edens, getting a pump in too, getting ready for spring break.  Ryan (Eddy) as we call him, passed his Actuary Exam as he graduates this year, and will be working in Syracuse, New York. Congrats to Eddy and bright future ahead of you as you move on.

With that being said, I know our entire Senior class will be moving on to bright futures.  It's sad to see them go, as our first weeks, and months being here as freshmen they really helped us along the way. They will never be forgotten.

While today was a wild day with it being a blizzard, not having classes has in a way, helped me get ahead of classes, and also do my homework that needed to be done. All of our freshmen class is sticking around in the dorms working on homework, or watching movies, or playing video games to just keep occupied with the weather. Freshmen Forward Erik Moberg thought it was a wonderful day to walk down town Fredonia to get a hair cut. Mobey as we call him, is heading to Los Angeles for the Spring Break, something about a big time movie acting or modeling job as he likes to joke around with us.... ha ha.

Anyways it was a pleasure to write to everyone today, but I should get back to finishing my homework. Till next time...
Mac McAvoy
