October can't come fast enough....

Good Morning!

Today is a rainy day here in Fredonia, and day two of advanced conditioning. Last class we did the beep test and the boys were flying. Taking challenges head on and conquering them. Week two of classes is almost over and it feels great to be back. It took a little while to get back into the swing of things but now the routine is set in place. October can't come fast enough when we finally get to touch the ice and play our home opener against Utica in Steele hall!!

We have a close group of guys that I can't wait to battle with on the ice and win a SUNYAC championship....

Hey everyone,

What a summer it was, hope everyone's summer was a fun and safe one.

This first week we've been back has been great. Everyone has been having a great time being back together and for the freshman class it's been a pleasure showing them the ropes this first week. There is definitely a different perspective from my eyes having a year under my belt which helps me help them out and answer any questions. So far this first week has been exciting, fun and looking forward for the season. We have a close group of guys that I can't wait to battle with on the ice and win a SUNYAC championship. We started skating and each day the tempo and compete level gets higher and higher. Everyone seems to be in shape and seems like they all worked really hard over the summer. Only a couple of more months and we'll be facing off against Utica on October 28th and it gets me fired up just thinking about it. I hope everyone has a great week in the classrooms and work.

Enjoy it and until next time.

Happy Sunday everyone!

Happy Sunday everyone!

Junior Nick Harper here checking in for my first blog post of the year. Although it was nice being home for the summer, it feels so good to be back in Fred and to see the boys again. First week of classes just finished up here so now we all have an idea of how are schedules are going to be and starting to get routines.
It has been a blast so far getting to know all the freshman who I get to call my brothers now. We have had a few skates and it's looking like everyone did what they had to do in the summer to prepare themselves for what we have to do in the fall and winter.

I also would like to say I could not be happier living off campus this year with my roommate Oskar Gerhardson, and then Jamie Young and Mac McAvoy living upstairs. Unlike most of the boys, I had to stay on campus the past two years. It's safe to say I won't miss the 3 AM fire alarms going off when someone burns popcorn or something in their microwave. I'm really enjoying having a house to ourselves.
That's all I have for today hope you all had a great weekend!

Fredonia has done a lot for me the past three years......

Hello blog world!
Frankie Hart here with his first blog of senior year. When I came in as a freshmen people told me that the four years here fly by, but I had no idea it went by so quick. I've made many lasting friendships and great memories. Now in my senior year I think there is no better time to accomplish something great as a team. It's only been a week since the team is back but I know the bonds that are being made will last a lifetime. I'm excited to get the season going and plan to make every last day here count.

I can't thank my parents enough for giving me the opportunity to pursue my hockey dreams while getting a great education. Fredonia has done a lot for me the past three years and I think it's overdue to pay it back with a SUNYAC championship.
Have a great weekend everyone and hope you all have a great first week of classes!

I think we have a great group coming in........

FIRST WEEK UNDER THE BELT!

Good morning everyone, this is senior forward Mackenzie McAvoy tuning into the blog today. First off I would like to mention I had a great summer, as it went by way too fast, however I was able to do a lot of traveling. I went out to the Calgary Stampede to visit alumni from our team last year. I had a great time out there checking out the scenery and also a couple rodeo’s and chuck wagon races. It is something everyone should definitely consider to go see. The second place I went to was just north of Atlanta, in which I stayed at a cottage on a lake for a week, in which is was definitely hot there, and now I know why the call it “Hotlanta”.

On another note, it feels great to be back and see all the boys again, in which some we have not seen for a long time, and also getting to meet all the new freshmen coming in. Usually I am known for giving people some nicknames so I’m going to have to work on giving them all one, in which I have a few in mind, in which our readers might see in the near future.

As I reflect on my summer being over, I look forward to a new opportunity with new teammates to have a very successful year coming up. I think we have a great group coming in and as well coming back.

I remember sitting in coach’s office first week in my freshmen year, and hear him tell me that it goes by fast, and he sure hit the hammer on the nail when he said that. I cannot believe it’s already my last year, and how fast it really does go by. The next thing I want to share with the blog is a quote I read, in which anyone can use in life, or sports, or anything related to trying to be successful. It has inspired me to become all that I can be in life, and for my coach’s and teammates. I like it because it short and simple, but yet so true.

Until next time,

66 days till Utica. .....

Hey there hockey fans,

Sure has been while since we talked; I hope you all had a great summer and yours was much chillier than mine was!!

So I spent my summer in the nations Capitol this year experiencing all it had to offer. While I was in Washington, D.C. I was lucky enough to be apart of a program called The Fund for American Studies. This was a wonderful program that provided me with an internship experience with a lobbying firm, classes from George Mason University, and numerous activities and opportunities such as sitting on the US House of Representatives floor and site visits to the State Department and international embassies. It was a tremendous 8 weeks that I thoroughly enjoyed and would recommend it to anyone interested in how businesses work with the government!

After all of that it feels great to be back with the boys and meeting all the new freshmen. With our first couple skates and first 6am workout out of the way there is a ton of energy around the room and we can already tell it's going to be a great year.

Also, I have to give a quick shout out and congratulations to my talented mother, Claire Zangerle. After 8 years as CEO of the Visiting Nursing Association of Ohio she has decided to take a new position as Chief Nurse of the Allegheny Health Network in Pittsburgh. Even though she will be in Steelers country, I am so proud of everything she has been able to accomplish in her storied professional career all the while raising myself and my little brother Joey.

That's all for me right now though, we will talk soon.

66 days till Utica.

Cheers,

The boys were up bright and early today.......

Hey everybody,

Hope you all had a good summer!

The boys were up bright and early today, just as the sun was about to rise we put on our running shoes and went to work. After a good Indian run followed by some lightning fast sprints, Frankie led us through a nice stretch and we could finally see the sun peeking over the trees as we went back in to the locker room to get ready for the rest of the day.

Classes await and we are all getting used to being back in school whether it has been a couple of months or years (Freshmen). Right now I'm sitting in the library cranking out some homework for my Managerial Finance class. Being a junior now I'm a bit more excited going in to a new class since it usually means I get to learn something within my major rather than philosophy or music.

Well I better get back to work, see you soon!

Kickball and early mornings.....

Good afternoon everyone,

Senior, forward, Marcus Ortiz here again on this segment of the Fredonia Hockey blog. Today was the second official day of classes and after 3 classes back-to-back-to-back I was relieved to be able to go for a nice little run through the vineyards and then join the team for a nice competitive game of kickball. As we relive our childhood outdoors playing a friendly game, it is always a solid reminder of why we chose the athletic career path we chose (especially Boggy).
After that we ventured over to watch a small amount of the women's soccer game against Mercyhurst. after cheering the girls on we returned back to our houses/dorms to start on our homework for the night so that we can get to bed before our 6 a.m. team workout coming up tomorrow morning!!! Well there is more to come soon, but for now I'm signing out, Hope to see you all when the season starts!!

Hey there, Hi there, Ho there hockey fans.....

Hey there, Hi there, Ho there hockey fans,

Hunter Long signing in for his last, first day of blogs and school for that matter. It's nice to have all the boys back in town. We are with each other everyday during the school year, so sometimes we all need a break from one another, but this family here is a tight, tight group so the summer break couldn’t end fast enough. It was nice to finally meet the freshman, they seem like great guys and we think they will fit in well here. We have a great and positive group of upper class men that I think going forward will be a huge asset to our success this season. Everyone is on the same page, and we are all organized, and as upper class men and we believe that will have a trickle affect to the sophomore and freshman class. Excited for what the season has to offer, but there a couple things on the list that we as a team have to conquer first before we take on Utica at home.

Busy first day for me so I'm out of here. “Everyone take care and comb your hair.” – Jeff Flagler
