Hey everyone,
Hunter Long coming in hot again for the blog this year. I’ll be writing some
good ones, so stay tuned. Anyway, hope everyone had a great summer vacation.
Although for me, the word vacation seems to change meaning during that 3 month
span. I work every day from 5:30 AM to between 2:30 and 6 every day.
Tennessee’s summer heat is one for the books; if ya’ll haven’t experienced it
consider yourself lucky. I’m also coming off shoulder surgery as well, and my
shoulder is holding up just fine. I was blessed to have 2 of the best surgeons
and rehab specialist known to man. They did everything they could possible for
me to return to the game I love and while I was IR, I still managed to set a
record for the worst and longest surgery he’s ever had in his career. I’m not
sure if that’s a good or bad thing but you have to find the positives
throughout any rough situation you’re going through. Also while I have the
microphone, big shutout to my parents who took care of me while I was in the
trenches, love y'all a lot. While you are injured and you find yourself with a
lot of down time, your mind starts to wonder and think about a lot of things.
Sometimes things happen in your life for different reasons whether they are
good or bad but I feel this surgery made me hit the refresh button in my
career, and get back to the basics and just simply hard work, have fun no matter
what, and have a positive attitude. I also think I took for granted that
playing NCAA hockey is a privilege because all it takes is one shift or one bad
night in town for that all to change. So going into every game this year my
mindset will be a little different than it has in the past. Looking for a
couple early wins to get the season rolling in the right direction.
