Just got home from a nice little family meal with the 102 temple
residents at Applebee's. Today was a longer day than what I'm used to
because of having a 2.5 hour night class but some of the boys and myself
just battled through the once a week class and can enjoy the rest of
the night watching hockey and thinking about our do or die game vs
Potsdam. We tied another great practice on today and get one step closer
to the weekend. It's going to be a great feeling snapping this losing
streak and sitting in a playoff spot. At this point we control our own
destiny and we will get the job done doing whatever it takes. That's the
motto in the room this week, and I can't wait to show it friday night.

Sabres gack it up with 1.5 seconds to go
I'll start off by saying it was a disappointing loss last night by
the Buffalo Sabres. 1.5 seconds left in overtime and Toronto buries one
for the win. On the bright side, they did get a much needed point.
However I still owe gunner a coffee that we had bet on. The Blue Devils
had a great practice yesterday and everyone was fired up,scoring goals
and excited to be at the rink. That same attitude will be brought the
rink today as we come one day closer to the SUNYAC meat grinder we have
coming up this weekend.

First day of class
After a long first day of class it was nice to have a little day
off from practice. It gave guys a chance to get a little more organized
with school and recover from any injuries or illness guys may have had.
Tomorrow is about getting back to work and staying focused to make sure
the job gets finished this weekend. I'm currently sitting here with
sophomore forward Steve Castriota and were waiting for some NHL games to
come on. It's nice that there is a game or games on every single night.
On a down side to that, the Buffalo Sabres have had a recent struggle
but they'll get it together again go on a playoff run. Until next
time...

Matecki's first post
First blog of the week and it happens to be the day before the
second term starts. It's going to be a grind this semester for me and my
classes are getting harder. I hear Dddy is good at math so hopefully he
can help me with my calc homework. J term was a lot of fun just hanging
out with the boys and not having to worry about classes, but I'm ready
for school to start up again. On a hockey stand point we can't quit
before the miracle.

Buzzer beater for the hoops team...
Just got back from a very exciting basketball game over at Steele Hall
tonight. Instead of laying around tonight me and Matecki decided to go
check it out, turned out to be a great choice. There was two different
buzzer beaters tonight, one by Potsdam to tie the game at the end of
regulation and one by #20 on Fredonia at the end of overtime to win the
game for them. It was an unreal finish. Now it's time for us to pick
up from there and get another win for Fredonia as we go for a must win
game at Morrisvile. Time to get some rest check back in tomorrow to see
how things went.

All in
Today after a great lunch at Cranston a bunch of the boys got together
for a nice friendly game of poker. I'm not much of a poker player so me
and Matecki were there to enforce the rules. We didnt stick around til
the end but rumor has it Bourne and Nosky made it to the finals. As
for tonight we got a nice surprise visit from Marty to watch some
hockey. And somehow he gets to control the remote and sit in the best
seat all night which doesn't make much sense. Now that the games are
over I'm going to crush season 5 of entourage and call it a night. One
more practice before we head down to Morrisville to take care of
business.

Bryzgalov ...... studying the universe
Just sitting around relaxing with some of the boys watching the Devils/Flyers game after a long cold day here in Fredonia. Devils are really taking it to the Flyers with a 3-0 lead right now. Bryzgalov must be studying the universe tonight cause he sure isn't worried about stopping the puck. Got up to an early 7:45 am wake up today call to get the car warmed up for the boys for the short drive over to the rink. The Stooges had an off day finishing in 3rd place for the day. But on a positive note we have moved past Mueller's team for 3rd place in the overall standings. After a tough practice and a lift we came home to shovel the driveway with a foot of snow on it. Well I didn't really do any of the shoveling. I supervised as #23 Brian Doust did most of the work. Let's just say he wasn't too happy but I'm sure he will get over it real quick. Heading to bed early tonight to get ready for another early practice, see ya tomorrow bloggers.

Nice to have a day off
It's been a nice day off here at the Temple St. household. With a little
free time today and all the snow outside me and the boys decided to
switch our set up around so we don't have to hear the complaining from
the rest of the squad. And what do you know I walk out of my room
tonight at Marty #16 is enjoying the sabres game. We will be calling it
an early night as the stooges will be on top of our game come
tomorrow's mini game competitions. Come back tomorrow to see the
results.

Getting closer
Its been a nice relaxing day at the temple household today. We got all
the boys together to watch the two championship football games and some
of the hockey games going on today. I've taken a lot of chirping by the
guys today because my Atlanta Falcons fell short today but its alright I
feel a real nice bounce back season coming next year. Matt Ryan with a
playoff win under his belt will have a lot more confidence next time
around. But besides the chirping it was nice having everyone together
on a Sunday off a positive weekend as we take a step in the right
direction and start to make our push into the SUNYAC playoffs. I feel
the team is closer then ever right now and am excited for things to
come.

Tough battle but not detered
Tough loss tonight for the boys. Everybody is a little down right now
and I personally am sore from tonight's battle in Geneseo. The best
thing about it is that tomorrow we get a chance at another 2 points when
we face Brockport, which when we wake up will be the only thing on our
mind. We're in the hotel room now, me and partner Al Perkins as always
and just relaxing and talking our favorite TV shows. Other than that
it's a pretty laid back night as we prepare for tomorrow. Until then
I'll be in touch.

In the zone and a big US win - loading the Horse
By some miracle, today Canda lost the USA/CAN shootout in our weekly Thursday competition... Typing that sentence was pretty tough but now
that it has been a couple hours since practice, I feel a tad bit better.
There is always next week. The rest of the day was pretty normal, a
couple good meals with the boys and relaxing and resting up for
tomorrow's game. Right now I'm currently typing this while laying in my
room watching some TV before heading to bed. We have an early team
breakfast tomorrow than hop on the bus for a quick road trip to Geneseo.
I'll check back in tomorrow and let you all know how the day is going.

Just a glimpse of my perspective when I'm in the zone watching TV from my bed, for all those interested. |

Loading the Horse
Tomorrow is our last day before our weekend games begin, and it can't
come soon enough. All the boys are excited to head to Geneseo for the Friday night game and are pumped about tomorrow's skate to fine tune all
the things we went over this week. Today we had an awesome practice:
quick pace, great passes, and physical every time. We carry these over
and were gonna be one deadly group come Friday evening. Tonight the boys
are just relaxing, I myself am playing some video games with Doust,
Willy, and Kenny right now and probably going to head to bed in a little
while here. Until tomorrow, take care everybody.

Boys go to men's basketball game in free time
Well it's been 2 great days of practice so far heading into our SUNYAC
conference games this upcoming weekend. The theme this week and been
FAST and Physical and the first today was a solid day to reinforce
those points across. The weather in Fredonia has been great lately and
all the boys morale is up which is great to see. We recently just got
back from watching the Fredonia State Men's Basketball game here on
campus which was a good time. Tomorrow we have a early practice planned
so I should take off here.

A little R&R
Well today was our day off after a long weekend of travel and hockey.
Personally my body is feeling pretty sore right now and this day was
wonderful just to relax and prepare for the upcoming week. A couple of
the boys are over right now just watching the playoff football games on
now taking it easy. This week we have our first 2 SUNYAC games of the
new year which is definitely a step up in intensity in terms of battling
for those crucial conference points. We're excited and looking forward
to a solid weeks worth of practice in preparation for Friday night. All
the best to everybody in the new year.

In Philly
Well we have finally arrived in the city of Philadelphia! We had a
slight confusion on the bus ride up which made us end up in the lovely
state of Delaware for a moment or two, but at least I can say I have
visited that state now. It was a long road trip but were glad to be all
settled in for the night. We have our itinerary lined up for the next 2
days and I can tell all the boys are just ready to get on the ice after a
hard week of practice. A quick pre-game skate tomorrow, then puck drop
at 7 is what were all looking forward too and we know it's going to be a
battle. I'll keep you up to date tomorrow with a post game report.

Bowling for Fredonia
It's been awhile since my last blog post but things have been going
great so far in the year 2013 for our team. Practices have been tough
and at a high tempo which was a great start, and were building everyday.
The boys all went team building last night for some bowling and it was a
solid time. I'm happy to say I came out the victor with a high score of
212, which I'm still not sure how exactly I managed but I'm not
complaining. The boys are all relaxing tonight and getting ready for our
road trip tomorrow to Philadelphia as we prepare to play Neumann. I've
never been to that city but I'm excited to have a trip with a boys and
grab those 4 points that are up for grabs. Until then, have a good one!

Still working to close out games....
After a disappointing result last night, the boys were ready to put it
behind us and have a fresh start today against the visiting New England
College. We had an early morning meeting and we had a few kinks that we
needed to fix the video helped us see the problems that were occurring
during the game to help us today. We left for an hour and prepared to
battle for 2 points. We had a good first period it was a back and forth
battle that ended up in a 0-0 tie after one period, we came out flying
in the second Matt Hehr and Jared Wynia led us in scoring and we
finished the second period 2-0. We wanted this win bad, everything seem
to be going our way, but a few penalties going against us and a few bad
bounces not going our way and at the end of the third the score was tied
2-2. We fought hard in the overtime period and ending up tying the
game. to say the outcome was disappointing would be an understatement we
worked hard for two periods only to lose it in the third, it came down
to little mistakes that cost us again, and its unfortunate events turned
out the way we did. We have a week of practice ahead of us, and we have
a lot of work to do.

Great day for US both in WJC and Steele Hall
Today we finished a week of practices. With the Canada and
the U.S playing last night in the juniors and the U.S team coming out ahead by
a 5-1 score. We were getting a little flack from our American teammates and we
didn’t like that at all. In the Canada vs. U.S shootout after practice it was our
chance to get back some of the pride we lost and redeem ourselves, but it
was not to be Tyler Palmerton played phenomenal in between the pipes an only
allowed one goal during the entire duration of the shootout. Despite not having
the outcome we wanted for the shootout after the practice I really felt we
have really grown quite a bit as a team and we will come out swinging tomorrow
against St. Anselm. After practice a bunch of us came together and had some
lunch there's no bad blood on this hockey team even if it’s for national pride
the better team won we will just have to get them next time.

Bad plus/minus equals 'bad bucket'
'Sneaky' here making another blog entry for the week sitting at park place enjoying a little relaxing video game session with my buddies #27 The Bergler and #2 The Melkman and the one only Chad "The Bad Chaz" Bennet. Earlier in the day as we have reached the halfway point of the week, with only two days remaining until our game against St. Anslem we continued to work on our own defensive end. The theme for the week has been protecting our own zone first, we have been working hard all week beating each other up, just to fine tune some of our defensive end. Today at practice we continued the theme but with a little twist just to make things interesting. Coach Meredith put forth the challenge to us to keep as many goals out of our own net and the person who allowed the most goals as an individual would have "the honor" of wearing the green helmet for practice tomorrow. It was dubbed the battle of the plus/minus and everyone worked really hard goals were pretty hard to come by but when it was all said and done Mr. Jared Wynia made Fredonia Blue Devils history by being the first ever recipient of the battle of the plus minus green helmet congrats Jared. Later on in the day we had our skate with the blue devils we had a good turn out as we spent time with the kids and took them through the different drills, The kids had a great time and you could tell that the parents really appreciated that we were taking time to give back to the community and spending time with the kids..

Small Ice battles into big game battles
After an extended Christmas holiday in Toronto where i was visiting
family and had a really relaxing break meeting up with family and seeing
how everyone was doing after being unable to see them for so long. We
had a nice family get together at the CN tower it was a great experience
as i have only been there a handful of times. Despite having a nice
break I was happy to get back on the ice and getting back into the
groove of thing for the , we had our team battles today. We basically
went to war with each other for an hour straight Mueller's Monsters
finished second place to the Hehr Balls by a single point, Matty's
Stooges came in third place after a pretty gutsy display of shootout
skill from Matt himself scoring 3 consecutive shootout goals to win
third place it was executive decision making at its finest. The guy
looked like a young Jonathon Toews out there, and Al's snakes came out
in fourth place better luck next time AL. We then rounded out the day
with a skill session just to get some of the rust off from the break it
was good way to get our hands back and get ready for the weekend against
some tough teams. To end of the day we got together and had a little
relaxing dinner it was a nice way to cap off the day, as we had all
battled hard today. You can really see by the effort and the
determination of the guys working on the team that they really want to
be successful going into the second half of the season. As long as we
continue to work as hard as we are we can reach the goals that we put in
front of ourselves.
