Can't wait to see what next season holds for our Fredonia family.

The first week after the season ends is usually pretty bitter because everyone thinks that we should still be playing and what not. The following couple weeks are often strange, but enjoyable because all the free time that just got opened up in the daily schedule. Right about now is when I start really missing just going to the rink and seeing all the boys, going to battle with all the boys week in and week out, and just flat out being on the ice. This week especially I've been thinking about and missing being in-season.

Can't wait to see what next season holds for our Fredonia family.

"informing everyone how the boys are doing "

Hey everyone,

Luke Rivera on the blog here just checking in and informing everyone how the boys are doing and what we are up to after the season.

After the season ended in a brutal way, it wasn't long until we regrouped and started working for next year. About ten of us took the time to drive to Florida for spring break where we got to rest up a little bit, relax and enjoy the sun for a week. After, we started working again. We had the ice for about a week when we got back until it was removed and our workout groups started up again. In reality, in hockey, there really is no such thing as an off season. As hard as it is to maintain and increase our strengths for the next upcoming season, it gets to also be time well spent with our team. Even though we are usually unable to breathe during workouts, we still have a good time laughin it up and enjoying the time spent together.

As well as the workouts, we have been doing our groups on bullet points for the upcoming season. We get together to discuss our strengths, weaknesses and goals that we are setting for next year. Doesn't take long after the season to start thinking about the shiny trophy we are working so hard to get for the next one. We were also informed from Coach Meredith on how well our team did with midterms. It's always weights being lifted off shoulders when you know you're in a good position.

Last but not least, the Stroke Awareness jerseys have been purchased and should be here around April where we will get to show them off for next years game that is scheduled for December 1, 2017 against the one and only Potsdam again. Been working and planning that game as well. Well hope everyone is enjoying not being as cold as it once was a couple weeks ago.

Until next time.

Harps....my birthday is Friday April 7th

Hey everyone!

Junior Nick Harper here checking in for another blog post this year, currently on the third floor in the library doing some homework. (I think I was in the library last time for my blog post too) So my mom should be proud.

Next week is one of my favorite weeks when it comes to sports. In the beginning of the week, it's opening night and opening day for the Major League Baseball. As some of you may know I'm a huge New York Mets fan so I'm very excited for the year to start. As I've been saying every spring since about '99, I think this is there year to get a ring! Let's see if they can get the first win of the year however against NL East rival the Atlanta Braves.

This is a big week for NHL hockey as well as only a few weeks remain for the regular season. Many teams could come out of next week sitting pretty, or on their heels hoping for a miracle push and other teams to fade. My Anaheim Ducks however are one of those sitting pretty (as of right now) as they slipped by the San Jose Sharks for the first place spot in the Pacific Division. So you could say I'm excited to see how things shape up.

The most famous golf tournament is also taking place next week, The Masters in Augusta, Georgia. Pretty bold prediction but I think Phil Mickelson is going to come out of there winning the Green Jacket! (sorry Younger)

On top of all of that, my birthday is Friday April 7th so that's something always to look forward to.

One last thing before I leave ya, as I was writing this I just found out that I'm going to be playing in a summer hockey league on the same team as ex-Fredonia hockey player James Muscatello. James won a SUNYAC Championship here in '07 so hopefully he can show me how it's done!

Until next time,

Mackenzie McAvoy tuning into today's blog!

Hey there everyone, it's senior, forward, Mackenzie McAvoy tuning into today's blog!
I hope everyone had a great first spring weekend as today is starting to get a little warmer! Last night I attended the Buffalo vs Toronto hockey game and my oh my what a sight to see as Matthews and Eichel both scored for their teams. It was awesome to watch the kids play and even better yet score! So it was a very exciting game to watch and I was happy to see the Sabres win as it helps my favorite team Ottawa out in the standings. Other than that my weekend wasn't to exciting, just relaxed and hung out and too an easy and just taking in retirement from hockey. I must say I do miss hockey a lot and I know next year once I'm in the "real working world" I will most definitely miss playing hockey and being around the guys! But for now we have 6 weeks left of school and I'm in the final stretch here so I'm have to buckle down and get the job done!

Anyways I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend and this warm Sunday! Till next time!

"it's time to get the returning players back together and set our sights on a 2018 SUNYAC championship"

Hey there hockey fans,

Well it's been a couple weeks since the season ended and sufficient time to let the events of the season settle in and reflect on how everything went. Now that spring break has ended, it's time to get the returning players back together and set our sights on a 2018 SUNYAC championship and beyond.
I want to give a big congratulations to Oskar Gerhardson and Sammy Wilbur for being announced the two assistant captains for next season. There's are two individuals who embody the essence of Fredonia Blue Devil hockey. Two gentlemen who are hardworking, honorable, and determined. I'm excited to see the way these two will lead our team into battle in the fall.
Until next time fans,

It's fun to be in there with these guys and see everybody working hard....

Hello everyone, we have now been out of season and had some time to reflect on our year. It feels weird having so much extra time on your hand but it is also nice since it helps a lot with getting more time for school work.
The boys are also getting back in the gym to prepare for next season. It's fun to be in there with these guys and see everybody working hard. Here you got a nice picture of Jimmy S'mores working the split squats!

Until next time,

" first week back at school "

This week starts the first week back at school after a much needed spring break. 9 guys on the team and headed to Florida together to enjoy the warm weather and beaches that differ so much from the Fredonia weather. It was a week of leisure, fun, and more importantly a great bonding experience between the teammates. It made me realize how lucky we all are to be a part of a team where the friendships are so strong. I'm very excited to be with this group of Guys for another two years !!

The Roadie

The destination was set. The car was loaded. The task was daunting. But the boys. The boys were ready.
McAvoy, Morgan, Ross, and Freeman were road warriors on that fateful day.

The last week of school seemed to drag on forever, but as soon as we were done, we hit the road. Seventeen tedious hours from Fred-town to Panama City Beach, Florida, and we were determined to do it all in one leg. The first six hours passed effortlessly; filled with conversation, music and laughter. But as soon as the clock hit midnight, our first sign of trouble hit: food shortage. We had eaten all the snacks and were 22 miles from the next exit. Those miles crawled by, but soon the stockpile was replenished with Pringles and Kit-Kats, and the mood was back to celebratory.

Problem 2 showed its ugly face at near 4 A.M. Ross had to use the lavatory, and we stopped for gas not but one hour ago. It was a tough decision that was not made without much deliberation, but we decided we had to cut a man loose. Ross broke the only rule: Not a single second of fun is to be wasted.

The third and final problem arose at a crucial part in the trip, the drive through Alabama. It was a torrential downpour outside and the drivers side windshield wiper flew clear off of its moorings! I was in the drivers seat, and the decision was made. The final three hours of the trip would be driven with my head outside the window. No. Fun. Wasted.

Alas, we arrived at the pale blue water and the soft pillowy sand of Panama City Beach, where dreams are made, hearts are mended, and friendships strengthened.

The boys made it and had an absolute blast. We caught a little sun, and had a lot of fun.

Today, is the last day before break!

Good morning Fredonia hockey fans!

Brandon Spognardi here checking in for yet another blog. Today, is the last day before break! I'm really excited to get back for a little time off from school and relax with the family. Just have to get by one more day of classes and then I'm on route to Philadelphia.

School is a lot different without hockey. It's only been two weeks since the season ended and I'm already anxious for next year's season!

That's all I have for today! Till next time!

The boys have are headed south to Florida for a week....

Hey Devil fans!

Todd Schauss here checking in before break; Spring break is right around the corner and speaking for the majority us students, we cannot wait! The boys have are headed south to Florida for a week for some much needed beach time and relaxation. A few of us are planning on bringing the golf clubs as well. It will be nice to get out early in the morning to head out for a round of 9 holes to get the day started. With break only a few days away, everyone has been cramming and putting most of their time into their studies for some last minute exams and assignments. One week from now we will be sitting on the beach catching some rays!

That's all i have for you today,

The countdown to spring break is down to 5....

Hello everyone, freshman forward Jacob Haynes here for another blog post. The countdown to spring break is down to 5 and I cannot wait. Even though I'm not going somewhere where it will be sunny and in the 80's, it'll still be good to have a break. It is weird having so much free time now that the season is over with so much free time. But this time next year we won't have this problem as we will be gearing up for NCAA Tournament. Until next time,

Hard getting used to the off season....

Hello Hockey fans,
Well the worst part of the year has been going on for a couple weeks now. These last few weeks have been strange because you don't see the boys every day. Usually you won't see every one throughout the week. The days drag on along with the weeks. Knowing this feeling I think its safe to say the boys will still want to be playing come next year at this time.

Nothing short of a SUNYAC Championship next year!

After a great first year of college hockey, I couldn't have asked for anything more. The memories made with the guys through the wins and losses will never be forgotten, and neither will the faces of the seniors who will be leaving us for better things to come. The off season is in full swing and its time to get back into the gym and train for next season. The goal for next year: Nothing short of a SUNYAC Championship.  - Tommy

Missing that 72 degree weather from last weekend......

Good afternoon Fredonia. Jon Carlson back on the blog. Missing that 72 degree weather from last weekend. Myself and team captain Hunter Long got out golfing last week, however that was a tease as the cold front has come back. Another week of classes until spring break. Looking forward to be able to relax for a week and not have to worry about classes. As always enjoy the rest of your day and stay warm.

The post season depression is in full effect....

Hey everyone! Freshman, Thomas Dunn here for another blog. The post season depression is in full effect, as there isn’t much going on here in Fredonia without hockey. As of now my days consist of just going to class and then heading to the gym. I’m excited to head home for Spring Break in about a week and a half; it’ll definitely be nice to see all my friends and family again. Hopefully some nice weather is headed our way up here.

Till next time,
