DFT Community Skate a hit for all.........

Hello all,

Marcus Ortiz here on the blog front again and things are as busy as ever around here!  After a solid win on Friday to wrap up our hockey schedule for awhile the chaos didn't end there.

Today we had the DFT holiday skate and what a treat it was to see all of the big smiles on the kids and parents involved. I would have to say it was one of my favorite community service events! Everyone was so nice and polite and the mood was festive,  especially coming off a big win the night before.

After the Holiday skate the boys got together to celebrate Christmas and boy were the costumes festive,  from Santa all the way to a polar bear,  we had it all!  But unfortunately now it's grind time and everyone has to buckle down and study hard!  I know I am excited to go back home to Texas!

Have a Happy holiday to all of you!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays from Cappy.........

Cappy here, writing my final blog for the semester .

These last two weeks have really flown bye as expected.  With all classes coming to an end all the work seems to pile up all at once.  But after this week there is a nice break from school which will be nice.  I head home on Thursday and am looking forward to some much needed time at home.  As for the hockey side, we close out our season tonight against Johnson and Wales.  We've had a rough go this semester so its going to be important for us to get a win tonight and head into break with some confidence.  Hope to see all of you there.  Have a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays

Just a bit of fine tuning.........

Hi there blog world!

As everyone knows it is a very busy time of the year with finals just around the corner. The library is very busy and it is hard to find a free computer, luckily we have wifi at the house and are able to complete work that way. Last weekend was not the result we were looking for but with the hockey family we have, we know we are capable to getting the results we want. Coach had mentioned it was a combination of small things that had to be fixed and not major issues to deal with. With a few practices left before Friday’s game we are fine tuning the small details that need to be fixed. We are looking forward to a home game in front of our fans before heading into are Christmas break.

On a different note last week myself, Damo and Flags had the opportunity to take part in a third grade presentation at the local elementary school. Owen Rush did a research presentation on the wonderful country of Canada. We were happy to be bombarded with questions concerning are home country. It was a very neat experience and personally made me realize how fast time flies because it felt like not too long ago I was in there shoes.

Before I go I would like to wish everyone best of luck during their final exams as well as a very merry Christmas to all!

-          Can’t forget, yesterday was my mother’s birthday, happy birthday mama Hart!

Crunch time as Finals Week is near..........

D coming at you for blog #4 on the year,

It's coming down to crunch time here in Fredonia as the dreaded Finals Week comes around.  The three Engineering Majors on the team, Kauf #24, Whitey #5 and myself #15, have a tough road ahead of us consisting of finals in Calculus 3, Engineering Statics, Engineering Dynamics, Physics 2 and Physical Chemistry.  We are parting from the classic stereotype here at Fredonia, with hockey players and their educational priorities.  That doesn't mean that we don't enjoy ourselves, but when it comes down to business all the boys get to the library to better themselves and excel in their chosen major.
On another note as the holidays roll around Wilky #25, Kauf #24 and myself #15 are getting questions about our 2014 Christmas card/outfit options, and we can only say that we will attempt to out do ourselves from last year, which in my opinion was a very classy wardrobe and will be hard to beat.
For those of you who haven't seen last years dress code here it is.

Bourney looking forward to seeing his brother at break........

It is now the last week of classes for fall semester here in Fredonia and everyone is gearing up for final exams as well as our last game of 2014.  The library has been busier than usual this Monday morning, I think I have seen everyone on the team here in the last two days, which means everyone is putting in the effort so that we can keep our team GPA high again. I am also looking ahead to December 19th when I fly home as my brother has spent the last 3 months in Halifax  doing training for the Canadian Navy and I am looking forward to hearing all the stories he has. He has also decided to start college in January so I can impart maybe a little wisdom to him.

This being my last blog for 2014 I hope that everyone has a great Christmas and New Years

Flags looking forwards to the rest of our journey......

Tomorrow is my 22nd birthday.  It will be a bitter sweet birthday after the tough weekend we just had in hockey.  Not only for that reason, but it is a week before exams and this is when crunch time really starts.  This week will be a busy one as I try and keep up on all my school work as well as preparing for another game on Friday as we really need to get those two points.  Sometimes teams go through stints where they struggle, but that's where good teams find a way out.

This isn't a 50 game schedule like we use to play back in junior, you have to make every game count.  This is the time were we find out if our team is a good team and I'm more then willing to bet that our team can do it.  I am looking forwards to the rest of our journey this year as whatever comes our way we will face it as a team.  Today was a great day of recovery as well as a good day of reflection.  Tomorrow it's back to the old hart hat and work boots. To tell you the truth, I wouldn't have it any other way.

Until next time,

Moving forward...but first a good breakfast on the road.........

Hey everybody!

Coming to you live from Rochester. The team just had a great breakfast at the hotel and now our sights are set on Brockport. We played a tough fought game last night but we didn't quite get the bounces we wanted. But that's ok, we're moving on and looking towards tonight and we know what we have to do to get that elusive, first SUNYAC win.

For now it's rest time to make sure we get prepared mentally and physically for the tough test ahead.

Talk to you next time.

Kauf and the Missiles..........

Mitchy Kauf here checking in for my third installment of the FSU hockey blog live from the library tonight.

After a tune up day on the ice in preparation from a huge 4 point weekend on the road in Geneseo and Brockport, the boys are excited to get a little greasy this weekend and sneak a few points from 2 SUNYAC teams as we head into our 5th and 6th conference games of the season and these 2 games couldn't be more important to us.  With what I'm sure will be a playoff like atmosphere as we arrive to the rink and prepare to win. For myself it'll be a bit of a change suiting up on a forward line with two players with missile like speed: Blake Forslund and Mackenzie McAvoy. With a couple practices under our belts I'm extremely excited to get into the corners and grind it out with these gentlemen come Friday night.. As for tonight I'm hitting the books for a couple tests tomorrow so that will be all for me!

Just finished up with my fellow freshmen at our favorite meal establishment on campus, Cranston Marche. It’s always good to have a meal and to catch up on what he’s been up to and what kind of stories he has, you can learn a lot of life lessons from a gentlemen like himself that has spent almost 4 years here in Fredonia. Today at practice it was all fine-tuning and preparing for what has to be our greatest effort this year. As our captain Cory Melkert put it today “It’s not going be all systems that wins us the game, it’s going to be whoever wants it more.” On that note I’m off to hit the books at McEwen Library.

Bragging rights are definitely on the line.....

Hey there bloggers just checking in for another go around on the blog.  Its a big weekend coming up here for us heading out to Geneseo and Brockport for a real exciting SUNYAC weekend.  Really can't wait to get down to Geneseo on Friday night to see my best friend and old junior hockey line mate A.J. Sgaraglio.  It will be nice to talk and hang with him and catch up for a bit since we haven't seen each other since summer.  Bragging rights are definitely on the line in this game as a little fun trash talking has taken place.  We both know once the puck drops at 7 its friends off for the next 60 minutes.

As far as school goes the semester is coming to an end which is nice but it also comes with a lot of school work.  These two weeks will fly bye and it will be nice to be able to go home for a nice Christmas break with the family.

Well, until next time,

A nice family Thanksgiving for Doust.......

Well it was good Thanksgiving, although I wouldn't call it much of a break. Spent the week here in quiet Fredonia as everyone else went back home. Jared Wynia, Marcus Ortiz and Taylor Bourne were the only other people here to keep me company. We relaxed and visited the Fitness Center on campus until they finally closed the doors for the break.

After that my daily routine turned to the school books once again. Programming websites in code took longer than I originally would have expected. Four to five hours a day I spent cracking code and designing websites from my textbook. Finally got it complete, so called, break on Thanksgiving day that I spent at my wonderful girlfriends families. Packed house of twelve family members welcomed me for a feast and football. After a nice night off from the books it has been back at it until the foreseeable future.

The break was nice to rest the lingering muscle injuries that I've been feeling and ready to finish off the final Fall semester of my college career. Tomorrow against Elmira will be a nice game back and hopefully jump start our push for the NCAA championships. Come out tomorrow and see how things go, look forward to see y'all!

Winnie with a 'cup of Joe' in hand ready to start the day.......

Another cold morning here in Fredonia, although no snow on the ground so I can't really complain too much. I'm sitting outside my morning class here that starts soon with a large coffee in hand waiting for my day to get underway.

Tonight we have the Elmira Hockey club coming into town and even though it's somewhat of an odd Tuesday night game, the boys seem ready. Solid practice yesterday and ready for game time since it's been a awhile from last puck drop due to the Buff State game getting cancelled last weekend due to severe weather.

I got 2 classes today, both of which I will have to be paying attention closely (as I always do) since the semester is coming to a close in the next 2 weeks here and finals approaching just after that!

Until next time everybody, this is Jared Wynia signing off.
